That final exam might be the pinnacle of high school and the most stressful moment of your high school career and life. I will be honest with you: learning like an alien is the thing that scares me most. Learning like an alien is the thing that does not make me relaxed enough and gives me no inner peace. You know what I mean. I have been asked this question by many of my friends: “Are you panicked about your high school life?” Though, I don’t think there is any panic (cue laughter in the class). I have a few activities that give me a sense of relax and peace that I need before hitting the red-coated blackboard that gets cracking — just kidding! I have plenty of relaxation techniques that I like to apply before and after my final exams. I've started this process early enough to stay busy and finish sooner than later. It has completely been beneficial for my anxiety, depression and my overall level of happiness. I would have loved to have finished it sooner but I needed to make a new plan at work to help me with my work for the next two semesters and also find time to study for the GREs.

Tuesday, February 3, 2017 So, this last weekend I took the SAT in two different tests and came out with scores of about 2400 on the verbal section and 2000 on the math section. For the math section, I couldn't picture myself enjoying and solving the problems. I didn't take 2 of them in two weeks because I was so mentally fatigued from studying for and thinking about this huge final in preparation for my exams coming up later on. Each test I put up was worth 2 hours with study, listening to a tape or using apps to increase my score by 1 or 2 points. I must admit, the SAT I thought I would go over perfect, but when I got this score I was floored and so happy. Very excited and as if I never took a big test before. Finally I think I'll be able to study time management and stuff.

Especially, in school. I was the top student in my class for 3 years and then I didn't get into a university because I lived in a really small school district. And I missed three days of class and I was super sick for a week. It's been nearly 10 years since that class (which is why I'm studying so much in school now), which means my grades suffered a good portion of my entire childhood school experience. I was always embarrassed because I was always the one who couldn't take the steps after the bell. When I would get testlet after testlet after testlet after testlet because the questions were so easy that I could actually study them for days! But all of that was in elementary school where questions were given that asked you to make different calculations that would help you solve something. My math grades must have made my teachers get very nervous because this was just something they expected for me.

Asking me over and over with a "well you do this" "but you only need to solve this problem by choosing whatever number" or "and then you go step over here then in here then there it is" they never said "ok, you're stupid!" it was always "tell your friend to do that" or "where's your brain?" It was always a disappointment to me, when I got assigned a question I thought was a straightforward one but I could solve in my head in as many different ways that made no sense (for example, find x that equals 3a+5b or x+4y = a+b) when in fact they were just something my mind could grasp but couldn't solve in the time I had. But that probably has had more to do with my ability to think and I can get caught into that thinking, but it really helped me when I knew I had to memorize a problem I needed to solve but I thought I could find the answer by choosing the right things. The SAT only did that to me, so not onlyMy Final Exams Are Coming Up! It’s like an alarm that rings in the late afternoon & you never hear it. My final ASU exam is two weeks away. I literally spent the last 2 weeks after starting my test prep studying for class with no break. The first 2 weeks were brutal but the second 2 weeks were like torture- I didn’t sleep much and I spent too much time reading my notes. I’m guessing for a student studying as much as I did the way I thought about that test was kind of crazy.

I was praying, crying & asking God continually if I should study or not. I already said this coming to ASU was the best decision I ever made since I decided to send my plans for getting into college to God. I even asked God to give me my mind right to study so that I could get enough wrong answers to pass. But God’s got a different way of answering prayers. When I had 2 weeks I literally stopped going to church fully for 2 weeks which is the time I said I would study. I even went to a group 3 times which I had signed up for. I didn’t miss my church service until I started testing days after I signed up for all his response group meeting.

I literally almost lost it from trying to figure out if I had signed up for all 3 which was fine because I lost my job and all and it worried me because I got released on time. So I went back to praying & using time to study some more. This is a process I have continued since passing my test. I have realized that God’s given me a study time that was so different than anything I have gone through in my life before. I have been studying by putting a small clock in my room or watching a few minutes of some YouTube tutorial I had planned on buying but I paid my bill so that I could start another class. I am learning to about his like quiet little moments to get things down, I use them to focus on something, cry if I need to and cry if I don’t. I used it to write down quotes or anything else reminding myself what I need to work through.

I even put it on my desk to remind me to study. I learned that even though my test time is coming up for me to test that I do not need two weeks of complete rest which I get two weeks before all of my classes starting. I need time to organize my time. And start getting ready so that I will be able to focus for two weeks on nothing but memorizing and planning my test. “A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed then.”- George Orwell. You know it’s a terrible feeling. You don’t understand why you failed, but you never forget that feeling, either. It’s the worst feeling in the world because I couldn’t complete my class and make my life a better place. I cried a lot when I failed because it was so painful to think about what I needed to do to make these two year long goals happen. The fear of it and the worry that I couldn’t do them disappeared as I looked at the complete exhaustion of studying or just
