If you have ever had a vision related question asked during an eye exam then you may have heard the question, "do I wear contacts to my eye exam?" It is true that if you have asked this question before you may be concerned about whether or not you should wear contacts to your eye exam.

A large portion of people who wear contacts for their eyes are worried about the procedure. When I got my initial yearly eye exam as a child I was so anxious that I would not like to share it with you, but here is what I remember from that doctor and it was something that I did not choose to wear contacts for.

I would always wonder why I did not get the contact lenses that my eye doctor recommended because I had my own vision problem. At some point my doctor said something like this to me "if you wear contacts you will not be able to see correctly. You will probably end up in a blind shop in two weeks time.

That conversation was the turning point in my life for me that I had to ask my father why I would ever need to get my hospital eye examination for my vision. In the ensuing years I began to become more open to glasses, but still did not wear contacts.

I have had very bad eyesight since birth and I would frequently become dizzy when something was too close to my face and it made me vomit which is also bad for your vision. However, there was also the time when I needed to hold my uncle's baby shower cake and the crowd of people was so close that I could not even close my eyes to take it.

My parents would not let me wear contacts because they told me I was allergic to lenses and that I should not wear them. Now, as an adult I am completely fine with lenses and I often think that I was lucky that my parents did not buy me my own pair.

At this point in my life I do not feel any type of vision need to wear contacts because I know I am not allergic to them. Of course I have always thought that lenses were cool and many people wear them as well as other glasses. However, if you are in the same boat as I was when I was a kid and have been asking yourself this question "do I wear contacts to my eye exam" then you need to make a decision for yourself.

In order to make the best decision for yourself, it is important that you look at both sides of the issue and know exactly what you are getting into. Do you want to wear contact lenses during your eye exam? Or, do you just want to make sure that you are protected in case you do end up in a blind shop?

The point to remember here is that you do not have to wear contact lenses during your yearly exam. However, if you are going to do so then you need to make sure that you know what you are getting into. I know from experience that I only wore lenses when I was in a blind shop or when someone who was having a vision problem needed lenses.

In most cases I do not think that I would want to wear lenses even though I knew I would have to wear prescription lenses until I was twenty-one years old. I am very lucky that I can see well even in low light conditions and this is why I am often asked if I wear contacts or prescription lenses.

When it comes to your eye exam, you want to do everything you can to protect your eyes. You want to be sure that if you do have contacts that you are wearing the right ones and that you know what they are doing to your vision and if they need to be removed at some point in the future.

Another thing that you should know is that if you plan on wearing contacts during your vision exam, you may have some pressure on your eyes during your exam. Just make sure that you know what you are doing.
