The day of the test, the room was empty except for me, my husband, and the teacher. She was a beautiful woman in her late thirties. I could tell she was just as nervous as me because she seemed so tense.
After we got settled into our seats, the teacher began teaching us how to use the text books and the test software that were loaded on the computer. When she came to our individual tests, she asked if we were ready. I hesitated because I wasn't sure if I was going to pass or fail. So I nervously said, "Yes, I do have my exam tomorrow."
She told us about the test, how the questions would be timed, and what she expected us to do on the test. She handed out paper and pencils to all of us and started us off with our assigned test topics.
After we finished with the questionnaires, she told us what time the test would begin and ended. By the time the test was actually over, she was actually a little annoyed. She then told us that we needed to get to our test rooms as quickly as possible and bring any supplies that we were going to need.
She then gave us an easy quiz to answer and left the room. As soon as we entered the test room, the tension immediately disappeared.
While there were no real surprises or problems on the test, we were able to get the three parts of the test down without much trouble. It turned out that this was the perfect test for us.
First of all, we didn't feel like we had to get a number of grades before we could receive a free instant copy of the results of the exam. We knew that we already passed all of the necessary requirements before this test. This helped ease our minds after the first hour of studying.
Second, the easiest way to study was by using the Web. This was a big help because our only source of information was the Web, which means we could access all of the tests and reading materials on our own time.
Last, we were also given several printed study guides to help us learn the material ahead of time so that we would have a better understanding of what we were going to be doing on the test. I especially liked that because the materials provided in these study guides helped us get a good grasp of the material we were going to be tested on.
With this being the first of many exams, we are trying to be prepared. To this end, the materials we were given at the beginning of the semester were very helpful. We are also continuing to look for resources online and on campus for information about taking these types of exams.
In the next article, we will discuss what we did after we took our exam to prepare ourselves for what was next. There were quite a few things we were worried about, and after our test we were able to relax. We now know what to expect in our exams, so our preparations have been well worth it.
